4. Chrome Extension Permissions & Why We Need Them
Each permission is essential for core text rewriting functionality and is not used for any other purpose.

| tabs | Reloads neuralwriter.com tabs on extension update for compatibility. Also needed for scripting API tab targeting. |
| offscreen | Handles iframe loading without third-party cookie restrictions for reliable API authentication. |
| webRequest | Monitors requests to neuralwriter.com/api/rewrite only for error handling and response tracking. |
| webNavigation | Tracks iframe load events for neuralwriter.com only to ensure paraphrasing overlay initializes correctly. |

Content script runs on all pages to enable Ctrl+Alt+P hotkey for paraphrasing selected text anywhere on the web.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Local data storage: Your preferences and settings remain exclusively on your device in Chrome's secure storage.
- Request processing: When you use the rewriting feature, your selected text is sent via encrypted HTTPS/TLS connection to our AI processing servers, processed in real-time, and the result is returned to you. Text is not permanently stored on our servers.
- Data encryption: All communication between the extension and our servers uses industry-standard TLS encryption.
- Security measures: We implement rate limiting, abuse detection, and access controls to protect our infrastructure and your data from unauthorized access.
6. Your Rights
- You can uninstall the extension at any time to stop using the service.
- You may withdraw your consent by removing the extension, which will stop all data processing immediately.
